Capital District Council for the Social Studies  (Albany, NY)

About Us

The Capital District Council for the Social Studies (CDCSS) is a regional organization for networking and continuing education opportunities for social studies educators and professionals in related fields.  Our regional council in New York State has connected educators and organizations to the tools and resources needed for the refinement of social studies education. We strive to connect classrooms to New York's Capital Region.

We are affiliated with the New York Council for the Social Studies and the National Council for the Social Studies. Our collaboration with New York State Education Department (NYSED), as well as with numerous public and private education organizations, allows us to host annual conferences, awards banquets, and exciting events all throughout the year. Members are able to take advantage of professional development opportunities that support continuing education as well as building community in the Capital Region.

Membership is open to all elementary, secondary, and post secondary educators, professionals in related fields, and those interested in history and the social sciences. Members receive access to our bimonthly publication The Liaison as well as discounted registration to various CDCSS events. Educators within a school or organization may purchase membership individually or in group.

CDCSS' regional coverage includes Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Washington, and Warren counties.
