The Arab-Israeli Conflict and Peace Process

Featuring Professor Jonathan Adelman

A dynamic speaker, Dr. Jonathan Adelman is a full professor at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. An author and expert on international affairs, Professor Adelman offers a unique perspective and analysis on war and peace.

Professor Adelman has written or edited 12 books on international affairs and is currently writing two more. His upcoming book is on Global Threats. Professor Adelman has spoken around the world sent by the US State Department on 14 international speaking tours to 13 countries from England, Germany and Spain to Russia, China India and Japan. He has appeared on national television and radio. He is an Honorary Professor at both Peking University and the People’s University in China and has lectured at Cambridge University, Harvard and the Air War College.

An interactive discussion will follow the lecture, providing educators with an opportunity to translate their learning into practice. The program will include opportunities to develop skills in identifying and assessing supplementary teaching materials that engage students and are historically and instructionally sound. Participants will receive a packet of recommended curricular resources designed to increase students’ critical thinking skills and their understanding of the multiple perspectives that exist in the Middle East.

Facilitators are Shelly Shapiro, Director of Community Relations at the Jewish Federation of Northeastern NY and Kate Jackett, Assistant Project Director for ADL’s A World of Difference® Institute, New York Region – Albany Office.

There is no fee, but registration is required. Please register by Friday, October 22, 2010. A light supper (vegetarian choice included) will be provided.
