How do we assess instruction based on the NYS K-12 Social Studies Framework?

Join us from Monday, July 18 – Wednesday, July 20, 2016 for an intensive three-day summer institute offering an “A-to-Z Framework experience” at The Desmond Hotel in Albany (Wolf Road).

Building off of our highly successful 2015 Summer Institute on the NYS K-12 Social Studies Toolkit Project, the 2016 Institute will focus on teacher-led methods of teaching and assessing the Social Studies Practices outlined in the new K-12 Social Studies Framework. You will learn about, design, and share strategies, resources, and methods that focus on the Framework’s Inquiry Arc.

At the end of each day (Monday and Tuesday), you will develop sample assessment items based on one or more Social Studies Practices. On the final day (Wednesday), you will receive feedback on and have time to revise your assessment items for classroom use. This is a comprehensive experience to sharpen your own classroom assessment practice!
