Capital District Council for the Social Studies presents
Peebles Island Historic Preservation Tour
Thursday, August 18, 10:30 am
We’ll start this tour with a 30 minute presentation about the NYS Division for Historic Preservation, which will cover how they were first established and their various functions with NYS Parks, which includes:
· The Historic Site System,
· The Administration of the National Register of Historic Places, and
· Information about the Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program
Following that, small groups will proceed with tours of the labs, highlighting where conservators curate the paintings, objects, textiles and other historic artifacts being worked here with origins from throughout the state.
Following the tour visitors are welcome to walk the easy trail around the island or join colleagues for lunch at one of several nearby eateries.
Food and drink for lunch is not included in the event registration.
