History Online and In-Person:
Using Local History Resources to Enrich Instruction
Come to this workshop to learn more about the treasures held by institutions in your own backyard and how you can integrate these items into classroom learning. The first hour of the program will be devoted to learning about various ways local historical institutions work with teachers to enrich and enliven classroom instruction. Participants will be introduced to the growing online collections of local primary sources, hear about librarians and historians who have helped teachers use local resources to create Document Based Questions, and new programs being developed to immerse students in history using simple documents such as bills, receipts and diaries. At the end of the program, participants will visit Clifton Park Halfmoon Public Library's local history room to see some of these treasures live and in-person.
