In this lecture, Jane Ladouceur, Adjunct Instructor of History at The College of St. Rose, will explore the historical setting that shaped the 1827 murder of John Whipple.  The players in this deadly drama, Whipple's wife Elsie and her lover Jesse Strang, acted out a tale of love and lust as old as time.  The murder and its aftermath provide a window into the changing context of

New York Statein the 1820s.
