On a train to Auschwitz, 15-year-old Eva made a promise to her older brother Heinz. If he did not survive the camps, Eva promised to retrieve the paintings and poetry Heinz hid under the flooboards of his attic hiding place.
This is the 32th anniversary of the Kristallnacht Interfaith Confronting Bigotry Commemoration of the Capital Region, sponsored to unite the community against prejudice.
The program is sponsored by Holocaust Survivors & Friends Education Center, Community Relations Council of Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, and the Judaic Studies program of the University at Albany.
