"The Case of the Disappearing Arnold"
Saratoga Battlefield Teacher Workshop
The CDCSS and Saratoga National Historical Park is pleased to announce we will be co-hosting a 4-hour CTLE accredited teacher workshop on Saturday, November 14, 2026 from 9 AM to 1 PM.
The indoor portion will start at the Saratoga NHP Visitor Center (Saratoga Battlefield).
This Workshop will include:
9 - 10 AM: indoor portion, includes review of Saratoga NHP educational resources and materials 10 - 1: outdoor portion on the trail ** Snacks and bottled water will be provided. ** If desired, bring your own lunch for after the hike. Attendees are welcome to explore the park following the workshop and stay until the park closes. Dusk will occur at about 4:30 PM. Dress for the weather, including sturdy hiking shoes or boots, and layers you can remove or put back on as you get a little too warm or a little chilled. Our group will test pilot a NEW "history mystery" activity! The activity will include hiking the park's main hiking trail, the Wilkinson Trail. Participants will stand-in as students completing their mission to find Arnold. The activity, co-created with some local middle schoolers and their teachers, uses site-based and primary source-based learning to explore how a previously unknown historical letter reopened the story of American General Benedict Arnold's presence on the field during October 7th, the second day of the Battles of Saratoga
