The Created Equal Film Series - The Loving Story

The “Created Equal” Film Series is part of the National Endowment for the Humanities Bridging Cultures Initiative. The Initiative is designed to encourage communities to consider the long struggle for civil rights in the U.S. and to reflect on the ideals of freedom and equality that have helped bridge deep racial and cultural divides in American society. These films tell a remarkable story–about the importance of race in the making of American
democracy about the power of individuals to effect change. They are being shown at Siena College, in conjunction with the Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King Lecture Series on Race and Nonviolent Social Change.

This film series is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Siena College Co-Sponsors include: Martin Luther King, Jr., and Coretta Scott King Lecture Series on Race and Nonviolent Social Change; Damietta Cross Cultural Center; Sister Thea Bowman Women’s Center; First Year Seminar Program; Siena College Sociology Department; and The Reinhold Niebuhr Institute of Religion and Culture.
