Don’t Iron While the Strike is Hot

A musical about Kate Mullany and her colleagues, entitled Don't Iron While the Strike is Hot, has been written by Ruth Henry and will be performed by DRAMAcademics (her students) in November.

     People in New York's Capital District are invited to attend one of the performances.  They will be November 14 at 10am and 12:30pm and November 16 at 10:30am at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street in Troy.      The musical focuses on the successful strke by the Troy Collar Laundry Union, led by Mullany, in February 1864. The union is considered the first bona fide all-female union in the counrty. Mullany would become the first woman to become an officer of a national union and was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2000.
